Long Bet FAQ:
Tracking Friendly Bets, Answered
Is Long Bet a gambling app?
No. Long Bet is a record-keeping app for friendly bets. No money is transacted, held, or paid out through the app. There are no odds, no house, and no chance-based games. Think of it as a referee with a perfect memory: it documents what you and your friend agreed to, then reminds you both when it’s time to settle up however you normally would.
How do I track a bet?
Create the bet in Long Bet (what you’re betting on, the stakes, and the judgment day), then send your friend the invite link. They accept the terms, and the bet is official: timestamped, documented, and stored until it’s decided. No more napkins, buried text threads, or “I never agreed to that.”
Does Long Bet handle the money?
No. When a bet settles, the winner and loser handle the stakes themselves (cash, Venmo, dinner, bragging rights, whatever was agreed). Long Bet keeps the record of who owes what and reminds both sides so nobody conveniently forgets.
What kinds of bets can I make?
Anything with a yes-or-no outcome and a date: sports predictions (“the Chiefs won’t win another Super Bowl in 10 years”), life bets (“you won’t be married by 40”), market calls (“Bitcoin hits $500K by 2030”), fantasy league side bets, golf trip bets, or decade-long sibling rivalries. Stakes can be money, dinners, or pure pride.
What is inflation adjustment?
For bets that run years, a fixed dollar amount quietly shrinks. Long Bet can adjust the stakes for inflation so a $100 bet made today is worth $100 in real purchasing power when it settles in 2036. No other bet tracking app does this.
How does a bet get settled?
When judgment day arrives, Long Bet notifies both people. Each side votes on who won. If you agree, the bet completes and the winner gets the record (and the payout you arranged). If you disagree, the bet is marked disputed and you have 72 hours to work it out before it’s voided.
Is Long Bet on Android?
Not yet. Long Bet is on iOS today, and Android is on the roadmap.
Is Long Bet free?
Yes. The free tier covers up to 10 active and pending bets, which is plenty for most people. Premium ($4.99/month, $39.99/year, or $199.99 lifetime) removes the limit for people running deep rivalries or whole friend groups.
What happens if my friend says the bet never happened?
That’s the whole point of Long Bet. The bet’s terms, stakes, and acceptance are timestamped when both sides agree. Your friend can deny it all they want; the record says otherwise.
What's the difference between Long Bet and a sports betting app?
Sports betting apps take your money and give you odds against the house. Long Bet doesn’t touch money and has no odds; it documents bets between friends, on anything, over any time horizon. If you want to bet a sportsbook, use a sportsbook. If you want your friend to actually pay up in 2031, use Long Bet.
